Careers For Life

Residential Construction is BIG

The lack of a sustainable skilled workforce in the housing industry hampers the health and growth of every other industry as well as the growth of the province. The residential construction industry contributes millions of dollars per year to Saskatchewan’s economy while providing nearly 40,000 direct and indirect jobs through building and renovating over 12,000 homes per year, making up more than half of the value of all construction in the province. In addition, the industry is one of the province’s largest employers, with jobs ranging from framers to painters and decorates to architects and engineers. The demand for skilled tradespeople in this industry in Saskatchewan and across Canada is very high and will continue to grow.

A Career in Residential Construction

The residential construction industry offers many rewarding and long term opportunities that enhance personal development and quality of life. You can be an active participant in building a family’s biggest asset - their home.

There are many excellent opportunities for advancement - individuals may start in a trade and later move into a supervisory or managerial position, or become entrepreneurs and start their own business.

With new construction methods, residential construction is no longer a seasonal industry - it is a year round industry.
