 What should you do if you're interested in a career in the trades?

Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) is an opportunity for youth across Saskatchewan to get a head start on career planning.  Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship is a three level challenge, which can be completed over the duration of grades 10, 11 and 12.

Youth who have completed all three levels and are registering as an apprentice in a designated trade are eligible for:

  • waiver of registration fee
  • waiver of first level of technical training tuition
  • 100 hours of trade time credit per SYA level completed

Opportunities for Women in the Trades

 

Women who want to pursure a career that is physically and intellectually challenging should consider the residential construction industry.  Within this industry there are a vast number of opportunites including careers in the trades, entrepreneurial opportunities and technical careers among others.  The residential construction industry can provide women with challenging, sustainable and rewarding careers.

 

Saskatchewan Women in Trades and Technology (SaskWITT) is a non-profit organization that assists women entering a career in the trades or technologies.  SaskWITT works to provide assistance to women pursuing training, mentoring or career opportunities in trades or technologies.
